Volunteer Opportunity – Mentors needed for Bellewood Programs

Bellewood Presbyterian Homes for Children is seeking responsible, caring individuals who are interested in making a difference in the life of a young person. Project THRIVE is a mentoring program for young people age 16-26 with mental and emotional disabilities and Operation HERO is a mentoring program for young people 15-21 participating in an Independent Living program for youth in out-of-home care. The Search Committee of the Cathedral Heritage Foundation invites nominations for the position of Executive Director.

The Cathedral Heritage Foundation is a non-profit interfaith organization with a mission to promote and support interreligious understanding, cooperation, and action.

The Executive Director is responsible to the Cathedral Heritage Foundation’s Board of Directors. The new Executive Director must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with five years of management experience. It is preferred that the new Executive Director has demonstrated interest, involvement and leadership in interfaith activities. Additional desired competencies include the abilities to: think and act with creativity; motivate people who have diverse backgrounds and talents; and work with staff and volunteers to help them develop skills and competencies.

Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Executive Director of the Cathedral Heritage Foundation serves as the inspirational leader to bring together people of all faiths to solve community problems. The successful incumbent serves as an interfaith activist to work with community leaders to identify issues, foster consensus to develop and implement honest, fair and caring solutions, design and implement programs, and evaluate results. The Executive Director will also possess the leadership and business skills to ensure that resources are available to successfully meet the short and long term goals of the Cathedral Heritage Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Leadership:
Develops and maintains constructive relationships with diverse groups including religious, civic and business supporters, board members, donors, and volunteers. Adapts quickly in developing positive relations with stakeholders with varying religious, racial, ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. Fosters cooperation within and among groups in order to accomplish organizational objectives. Effectively interacts, communicates and demonstrates leadership with various groups having diverse points of view.

Planning:
Develops and implements the annual operating plan to secure and allocate staff and volunteer resources to achieve the annual budget while integrating it with the 4 year Strategic Plan. Manages strategic shifts effectively. Generates or recognizes imaginative, unusual, original solutions to issues or problems.

Fund Raising:
Develops and implements effective fund raising campaigns to finance the annual operating budget and capital campaign as outlined in the strategic plan. Stays abreast of newest fund raising and grant writing techniques and approaches. Implements innovative approaches and methods for raising funds. Consistently meets the annual financial plan and fund raising targets.

Programs:
Insures effective implementation of Foundation programs. Monitors and evaluates programs on an ongoing basis. Evaluates and proposes new programs which enhance the Foundation’s mission. Special emphasis/priority should be placed on successful implementation of the annual Festival of Faiths.

Staff Development and Motivation:
Creates an environment that encourages people to contribute. Fosters a sense of energy and enthusiasm. Makes staff feel good about the contribution they are making. Effectively manages staff and volunteers with varying religious, racial, ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds

POSITION SPECIFICATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Five years management experience with expertise in management, leadership, and demonstrated interest and involvement with interfaith activities.
